Redfish, Snook, Sheepshead, Drum, and Snapper are the staples caught at the Sanibel Fishing pier.  Over the last couple years there have even been some really nice sawfish caught and released from here.  It can get crowded but when snook season is open people will be elbow to elbow at midnight opening night looking for a nice keeper.  Pelicans are always enjoying the show and diving for bait and almost always a dolphin or 2 can be spotted.  If the pier is too crowded just head to the beach on the side and fish from there.  There are some really nice deep holes off the pier towards Fort Myers beach way that if you find them there is no telling what you might catch!  Restrooms are a short walk away.  Also a fun spot if others with you enjoy shelling more then fishing as they can walk along the tip of Sanibel and find great shelling at the Lighthouse.
